NWEA MAP Report Coming Home

NWEA - MAP (Measure of Academic Progress)

This week the children have completed the NWEA. A report is coming home with your child today. This is a growth measure tool; it is only 1 measure and this does not determine success or failure for a child.  This is just one piece of data that helps me to see when I can strengthen my teaching practices with the children.  If you have any questions about the report when it comes home  please do not hesitate to contact me.

This is a sample of what the report will look like

Growth Mindset Words / Phrases

We used these question prompts to practice choosing the right words from our Growth Mindset side of our bulletin board.  It was quite hard for some of the kids.  In fact for question #1 I had some children answer that he should "give up or quit."  We will be working on this life skill for the whole year:)

These are the phrases and words we are practicing with ourselves and each other! Our class is encouraging the Growth Mindset not a Fixed Mindset.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me!

Seesaw

Tonight your child is bringing home a paper copy of the seesaw invitation.  Please sign up ASAP.  This allows you to see what your child is doing in our class.  Today each child read the piece they did yesterday during writing.  We shared what we did over the summer.  We used the anchor text How I Spent My Summer Vacation by Mark Teague.
