Using our Senses to Observe Weather
Today we began our lesson with a review of the 5 Senses. We discussed with each other what the senses are and how all scientists need to use their senses. We learned the new vocabulary word of meteorologist.
We then traveled outside to be meteorologists. We used 4 of our senses (no taste) to observe our beautiful fall day.
Each morning during calendar we have a student who will be our class meteorologist. He or she will be observing the weather and listening on the announcements for the weather report of the day. This will help us track the weather over a period of time. It is amazing how quickly it can change here in Michigan! The children seemed to enjoy being a "Weather Watcher (Meteorologist)" today!
We are always looking for experts to help enhance our areas of study. If you know of anyone who has a special passion for weather that would like to present to our first graders here at Hutchings please contact me! I never know if we have some professional meteorologists in our midst.
Reminder tomorrow is a half day of school. The students will be dismissed at 11:55.

Michelle
