Writing (using strong verbs), Sight Words and -at Word Family

Today we read the book The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett.  We used this story as an anchor for our lesson about verbs.  The gingerbread baby was so busy -  jumping, running, laughing.

Each child then received a photo from a magazine.  The children has a sentence starter I see... they then had to orally tell a partner what was seen in the photo.  We will write from the same photo tomorrow (using strong verbs).

As you can see the sight words we will be using this week are: I, see.  We then focused on the word family -at.  The children made a word wheel that will come home in their "Piece of Gold".  Please keep the cat wheel at home and use it to play rhyme games and for spelling -at words.

For most students these sight words and the -at word family is review, but some students may need extra support with these lessons.  If you are noticing that your child is struggling with either the sight words or word family please let me know!

Your partner in education,
Michelle
