Snow, Math Facts to 10 and Santa Shop!

Snow Fun!

Today we have been having a great deal of fun with the snow.  This morning we went out to collect snow in a cup to observe the changes throughout the day.  (We took a morning recess while we were out there in our snow gear!)

The sound of the children realizing that their snow had changed to water (a liquid) was just awesome.  They were so excited to have been able to watch the change.

We then read the book The Snowy Day. We compared the changes in our cup to the changes in Peter's pocket.

Please label each of your child's snow gear items.  There were many children that left one item in the hall and it was an investigation to find the correct child.  With so many items that are the same, a name on the item in sharpie really helps me to get a lost item to the rightful owner.

Math

Today the children revisited combinations of 10.  We watched the Rainbow Facts to 10 video and then the children played a game in class using 10 beans.  They put some beans in a pile and some in a closed hand.  A partner had to guess the amount of beans in the closed hand.
We have been continuing to practice our math facts using the online program xtramath.org  It is a wonderful free resource that is helping the students practice their quick recall of facts.

Santa Shop

Due to the snow day yesterday our shopping has been postponed until tomorrow morning at 9:30.  Any parents or grandparents that would like to come and assist students are welcome.  I appreciate any and all help for this exciting event!
