Friendship (fiction and non-fiction) Scholastic News, and Math

We are continuing our theme of friendship and bucket filling.  We read this story today by a local author:

We also read a non fiction Scholastic News article. Your child should be bringing it home today.  Please ask your child to try and read the article to you.  We read it together and even used the online tool to help.  Please check out the FREE at home resource to go along with the traditional paper magazine.

In math we are continuing to work on our numbers playing games using dice and counting.  Your child is bringing home a family letter that contains the answers to the homelinks.  Nightly homelinks will begin with lesson 1.7 (next Wednesday).  Homelinks will come home Monday - Thursday.  There will be no weekend homework.  If you have any questions about homework please see the handout from Open House or contact me.  

Ask your child how to play "Penny-Dice" Plate.  These are the only needed supplies! (Hint: if your child can't remember the directions are in the family letter)

We also worked on naming attributes (color, number of sides, size) of shapes using pattern blocks to build.  The children loved the activity!  We will pull it out again soon.
