Phonemic Awareness
Phonemic awareness is a building block of reading. If a child can not properly hear and manipulate sounds (not letters) they will have difficulty with their reading and writing. Here is a game that the children will be playing independently next week as part of the Daily 6.

Pumpkin Adjectives Have Sprouted
The children have finished their adjective pumpkins. Each child painted a pumpkin and then labeled the pumpkin with adjectives to describe the pumpkin. We have continued reading to learn about the life cycle of the pumpkin. When you are in the building stop by to see the beauty in the 1st grade hall!
