Livingston County Holiday Gift and Food Programs 2016 - Please read below and share with anyone you think may be interested!

Thanksgiving Food Programs
If you would like holiday food to cook at home OR If you would like a prepared holiday meal delivered to your home the day before Thanksgiving
Please come during one of the following Sign-Up Events at Community Bible Church 7372 Grand River Ave in Brighton:
 
Thursday, October 20 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM
Friday, October 21   10:00 AM- 3:00 PM
Saturday, October 22   10:00 AM- 3:00 PM

If you are applying for food only, you will need picture ID for all adults in the home and one piece of ID for minors. Call The Salvation Army Corps if you have questions.
If you are in need of holiday food after November 9, 2016, please call Gleaners Food Bank.

If you are over 60 years of age and would like a prepared holiday meal delivered to your home
If you are over 60 years of age contact Senior Nutrition to have a meal delivered on Thanksgiving Day.  There is also a full Thanksgiving meal available at the Hamburg, Hartland, Fowlerville, and Gregory Senior Centers on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.   Please call your Senior Center to reserve your meal.

If you would like to attend a home-style cooked meal in your community
Cornerstone Church offers a home cooked community dinner that is free to all those who attend the day of Thanksgiving (11/24 at 2 pm). Transportation may be available if you call in advance.

If you are interested in donating holiday food items, please contact Gleaners Community Food Bank to let them know if you are planning an organizational food drive at your church, club or place of business. Individuals can also donate to Gleaners, please see the attached list of needed items.

If you would like to attend a home-style cooked meal:
  • The American Legion offers a home cooked meal on Christmas Day (home delivery or available at the post), please call for more information.
  • A special Christmas Dinner will be served on Christmas Day at St. Mary Magdalen, Brighton.  Time to be determined.
  • Cornerstone church will be offering a free Dinner and Concert at 7 PM on December 10th.  Call for reservation.  RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED!

December Holiday Gift Giving Programs
If you have a family with children and are not connected to community agencies:
Sign-Up for Christmas assistance through The Salvation Army. Your family can receive toys and food through the Christmas Toy Shop or you could be eligible for the Adopt-A-Family Program.
Proof of residency, child custody and major monthly income are needed when applying. Income documentation must be recent (within 30 days) and proof of residency is required for all adults. Please call The Salvation Army Corps  for additional information or visit our website @ www.salvationarmylivingston.org

If you are already involved with a community agency:
Contact the organization you are a part of in the community for more information about their programs (some CMH programs, DHS foster care, Family Impact Center, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, The Arc, etc). It is alright to ask for confirmation from your agency before you contact other gift programs.

If you are  a senior (over the age of 60):
Please contact Livingston Catholic Charities and ask for their senior services for more information about giving programs for seniors (can include food items and holiday gifts). The final day to make a request will be December 2nd.  Delivery will take place on December 9th.

Individuals can donate at any of the excellent events such as Toys for Tots, Stuff the Bus, or the many other local efforts!  If you would like to plan an organizational drive at your church, club or workplace, please contact the United Way for areas of greatest need.

Contact Volunteer Livingston (www.volunteerlivingston.com) for local volunteer opportunities.  Many volunteers are needed to staff community seasonal efforts such as gift collection, pick-up and delivery of goods, gift wrapping, donation site management, toy and fund drive organization and many other activities.
